Homestead High School’s Susan Summers Named Indiana Assistant Principal of the Year

On Friday, November 22, the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) surprised and recognized Susan Summer, Assistant Principal, Homestead High School, as the 2019 State Assistant Principal of the Year. She was also named District Assistant Principal of District 3.  District 3 is located in northeast Indiana and is made up of Adams, Allen, Dekalb, Huntington, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley Counties. 

The recognition ceremony is a part of the 2019 Assistant Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration, a part of IASP’s annual Assistant Principal’s Conference. The award was presented at a luncheon at the Indianapolis JW Marriott IASP.

District Assistant Principals of the Year are elected by their peers. One principal is honored from each of the 12 districts.  From these 12 District Assistant Principal winner, Susan Summers, was recognized as the 2019 State Assistant Principal of the Year at the luncheon.

Ms. Summers joined the Southwest Allen County School district as a teacher in August of 1997 and was named Homestead High School Assistant Principal in 2012.

The Indiana Association of School Principals is a not-for-profit, professional association serving over 2900 building level administrators in the state of Indiana.
