SACS Operating Referendum Renewal Overview
On November 8th, registered voters in Southwest Allen County School (SACS) District may vote to renew the tax-supported operating referendum.
If renewed, the operating referendum will again approve the 15 cent rate per $100 home assessed value.
The operating referendum dollars are used 100% for salaries and benefits of personnel assisting the school district to retain and attract high-quality educators and staff.
Since 1985, SACS has operated with the assistance of a taxpayer-supported operating referendum. The operating referendum dollars are used 100% for salaries and benefits of personnel.
The current referendum, first approved in 2009 and renewed in 2016 by 75% of the voters, is set to expire and must be renewed in accordance with Indiana Code 20-46-1.

If the current referendum is not renewed, SACS will not have the resources to hire additional staff and will need to address the loss of nearly $3.5M per year. Since the current referendum dollars are used 100% for salaries and benefits of 46 personnel, SACS would need to cut many positions in the district.
