Who drives a school bus?

At SACS, school bus drivers are often the first staff person to greet our students and last one to say goodbye. If you love children and are seeking a flexible, well paying, part-time position with FULL benefits with the opportunity to work alongside a team of caring and friendly caregivers, driving a school bus for Southwest Allen County Schools may be the opportunity you are looking for.

WHY Drive a School Bus?

School bus drivers are tasked with the vital responsibility of protecting children on their way to and from school. In fact, bus drivers are the most highly trained, tested and scrutinized drivers on the road, ensuring students are picked up and arrive at school on time, and return home safely every school day.

Flexibility...

Driving a school bus comes with flexible working hours, allowing you to determine your schedule. Whether you just need to offset some pending bills or want a full-time salary, driving a school bus is your best option. It is a perfect job if you want to enjoy a personal life and still earn money. Many of our drivers are stay-at-home moms wishing to return to the workforce but maintain their kids school schedules during school closures and breaks. Some drivers are retired from the workforce but are still seeking benefits. Others are self-employed, needing a steady stream of income, but unable to afford a benefit package on their own.

Whatever you choose ...

Most school bus drivers work in the early mornings and late afternoon hours, with a long break in-between. Meaning that they work for less than 40 hours per week. A SACS driver can use this time to indulge in hobbies or tackle a few house chores. With the regular hours, you can plan your work and even have a second job or further your education.

Make a Difference in Children’s Lives...

Bus driving can be a fulfilling career if you love kids. You get to see them before and after school daily. Being a bus driver is more than knowing how to drive. It also involves being able to make kids feel comfortable, safe, and loved. As a driver, you have the chance to interact with children one-on-one each time you open the doors.
