Kindergarten is an important milestone in your child's life, it's their first step into formal education. As parents/caregivers you may be asking yourself if your child is ready.

At SACS, we believe school readiness occurs when children have the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Many may think that the most important skills for children to have entering kindergarten includes knowing their ABCs, numbers, shapes, and colors. While most teachers would love children to come in with some letter and number recognition, at SACS we believe physical, social and emotional development are essential ingredients for success in learning.

SACS kindergarten teachers and district administrators have compiled some helpful kindergarten information below for parents and caregivers as they prepare their learners for tomorrow's opportunities.

Kindergarten teachers have complied a list of important "I Can" skills/ school readiness skills that can indicate a child's readiness for kindergarten. Although not requirements, the transition to kindergarten will be easier for the child if they are familiar with these concepts.
Reading, Writing and Math – These standards are based on the COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS, a nationwide initiative to align state standards.
Any child residing in the SACS district who attains the age of five on or before October 1, 2025 may enroll in kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year.
The following documents must be uploaded during the enrollment process for all students:
- Copy of child's birth certificate
- Child's immunization records
- Two proofs of residency and a copy of the parent/guardian photo ID
